This project involved the design and construction of a transformation that reimagined an old house in Yeonnam-dong as a residential café space, while preserving and celebrating its original structure and finishes. The overlay of corrugated metal roofing was carefully removed, and the silhouette of the traditional roof was restored. The exterior’s synthetic stucco cladding was stripped away, revealing the hidden red brick beneath.

Inside, the steel structure that once supported the attic floor was exposed, and reclaimed timber columns, selected in collaboration with the client, were installed. At the request of the client, an avid furniture collector, the interior finishes were intentionally subdued and humble—designed to serve as a quiet backdrop that highlights the collection itself.
