연남동에 위치한 오래된 단독주택의 옛 구조와 마감을 활용해 주거 공간을 카페로 변모시킨 설계/시공 프로젝트입니다. 지붕에 덧방 된 칼라강판 지붕을 뜯어내고, 옛 지붕의 형태를 재현했습니다. 기존 외벽의 드라이비트를 긁어내고 감춰졌던 적벽돌을 드러냈습니다. 내부에서는 다락의 바닥 구조였던 철골을 드러내고, 건축주와 함께 고른 고재 기둥을 세웠습니다. 가구 수집가인 건축주의 요청으로 인테리어는 가구를 위한 바탕이 되도록, 차분하고 험블한 마감을 적용했습니다.
This project involved the design and construction of a transformation that reimagined an old house in Yeonnam-dong as a residential café space, while preserving and celebrating its original structure and finishes. The overlay of corrugated metal roofing was carefully removed, and the silhouette of the traditional roof was restored. The exterior’s synthetic stucco cladding was stripped away, revealing the hidden red brick beneath.
Inside, the steel structure that once supported the attic floor was exposed, and reclaimed timber columns, selected in collaboration with the client, were installed. At the request of the client, an avid furniture collector, the interior finishes were intentionally subdued and humble—designed to serve as a quiet backdrop that highlights the collection itself.
